June 11, 2009So next weekend I'm playing NXNE and I'm taking the whole band for an 8pm slot at the Drake Hotel on Friday the 19th. Right now I'd like to be working for an airline. There's a lot of scrambling for promo since I don't have an album to shop yet. I had a song of the month club stamp made for homemade flyer art which should be coming in soon. More on this later.

Oct 2008So I spent two weeks in Barcelona playing shows, recording music, attending lectures with surprise guests like Chuck D and Sly and Robbie and it was an all around good thing and a tiring time... sort of a crash course in dealing with the media as well. We each got our own rooms in a nice hotel of La Ramblas and were shuttled back and forth from the academy to the shows and all around whenever we wanted. I think everyone from the media to the participants were surprised at the budget they put into it. We even had cell phones so we could get ahold of each other around the city. Everything was taken care of and organized perfectly. I'd love to be able to participate in the organization of something like this. It would be like being Santa Claus. What a job.
Commodore Ballroom with Dragonette
Mar 2008We got to open for Dragonette at the Commodore. I don't usually get nervous to play in front of people but I can't think of a more nerve-racking thing than playing music in front of people you work with at a venue you work at with a band you've only played with once. It hurt my feelings.
